Spring, that fabulous and wonderful time of year is once again upon us. The weather is getting warmer, the days are longer, I can’t focus on school, and social events are once again drawing me away from mundane everyday life.

This year it seems that great events are everywhere. Recapping from this last week was the fabulous and wonderfully insightful Dustin Lance Black, screenwriter from “Milk” speaking on the art of building inclusive communities. The ACLU did a fantastic job of bringing together people that should be in the same room but rarely are. The event was a literal stew of young, old, queer, straight, and everyone in between.

Moving to present tense tomorrow is Detroit’s Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade, which is always delightful, but I would like to talk instead about another upcoming parade. The Marche du Nain Rouge is Sunday, March 21. The event drives away the Nain Rouge or a little trouble making spirit, of local french folk lore,  bring hope and good fortune to the city. Participants are meeting at the Third Street Bar, at Third and Forrest, dressed in their finest alter ego clothing in order to avoid the Nain knowing who you are.
